Conditions that Naturopathic Medicine Can Help:

Dr. Jackson provides naturopathic care to people of all ages, from infants and young adults, to elders.  She readily advises on both acute and chronic health conditions.

Naturopathic medicine can help the following conditions, using safe, non-toxic medicine:

Food Intolerances

Food intolerances are very common and can be the cause of numerous symptoms. These include headaches, moodiness, acne, heart palpitations, bloating, diarrhea, constipation, menstrual problems, difficulty conceiving, joint pain, and increased susceptibility to illness. A food intolerance is the result of an abnormal reaction of the immune system. It can be difficult to recognize a food intolerance because symptoms may not appear for hours to days after ingesting the food.

A food intolerance is not a food allergy, which is a specific antibody-mediated reaction in the body causing typical allergic symptoms like hives, runny noses, itchiness, and worst case scenario, anaphylaxis. Lab evaluations for a food intolerance may include taking a salivary, blood, or a stool sample. Summit Natural Health uses naturopathic medicine to help people regain their health after identifying their food intolerances. We provide a comprehensive evaluation to our patients that places a food intolerance in the context of their total health.

Hormone Imbalance

Symptoms of hormone imbalances can range from fatigue, weight gain or weight loss, depression, anxiety, low libido, menstrual irregularity, sleeping problems, sugar or salt cravings, brain fog, and hot or cold intolerance. Hormones such as insulin, cortisol, thyroid, estrogen, testosterone, progesterone, DHEA, and melatonin all work in harmony when the body is in balance.

Summit Natural Health offers comprehensive hormone evaluations to help you understand if hormone imbalances are impacting your health. Individualized lifestyle and dietary changes, the removal of one’s food intolerances, botanical supplements, natural hormone replacement, and nutritional supplements can all be used to rebalance hormones.

Naturopathic medicine can also be used to support the following conditions:

 Arthritis  Headaches  Menstrual Problems
 Asthma  Heartburn  Men's Health Concerns
 Back Pain  High Cholesterol  PCOS
 Crohn Disease  Hypertension  Sinusitis

What type of therapies are used at Summit Natural Health?

Clinical nutrition: By gathering information from your health and diet history and by performing a functional blood chemistry analysis on your lab work, Dr. Jackson can suggest individualized nutritional supplements to best support your body’s normal physiology.

Homeopathy: This is a distinct form of medicine that uses very small doses of substances from nature to stimulate your body’s own natural healing ability.

Botanical medicine: Dr. Jackson has received extensive training to use western herbs to support different systems in the body, including cardiovascular, endocrine/hormones, gastrointestinal, and the nervous system.  Botanical medicine can help relieve painful and bothersome symptoms associated with the flu, allergies, sinusitis, and many other ailments.  Plants can also support nutritional needs of the body.

Biotherapeutic drainage: In order for optimal health to occur, the body needs to be able to eliminate and detoxify properly. Dr. Jackson has been trained to use complex homeopathic medicines, low-dose minerals, and plant-based medicine to support the body’s natural ability to maintain a healthy balance.

Lifestyle counseling: Dr. Jackson can provide you with individualized and practical advice to best support healthy living, sleeping, and eating habits in order for you to reach your healthcare goals.

What to expect from your visit:

Comprehensive Evaluations

Summit Natural Health offers comprehensive health evaluations for new patients. This allows us to be holistic in our approach to your healthcare. We take into account the connections between the physical, mental, and spiritual health as well as the influences our genetics, lifestyle, and past medical history make on our current and future health status.

A comprehensive evaluation includes spending at least one hour with a new patient reviewing their health history and discussing their health goals. It includes performing pertinent physical exams, reviewing dietary and supplement choices, and advising on appropriate specialty and conventional labs. These labs may include a food intolerance assessment, gastro-intestinal health panels, salivary hormone profiles, and cholesterol and metabolic blood tests.

Dr. Jackson uses natural medicine to address acute complaints, such as the common cold or a sprained wrist, to support the body’s inherent ability to heal itself.

For chronic health concerns or for those patients interested in pursuing optimal wellness, Dr. Jackson offers a comprehensive evaluation that may include:

  • 1-1.5 hour initial visit to review patient health history and health goals
  • Functional blood chemistry analysis of lab work (ie- basic metabolic screenings, lipid panels, thyroid tests)
  • Specialized evaluations (ie: digestive stool analysis, adrenal stress tests, thyroid profiles, food intolerance assessments, female and male hormone panels)
  • Physical examinations (ie:  blood pressure and vital signs, abdominal exams, orthopedic tests, body mass measurements)
Because achieving long-term healthcare goals is a journey, Dr. Jackson often initially recommends a series of 3-5 follow-up appointments.
